Neurofeedback falls under the umbrella of biofeedback, but it is specifically related to the brain. I offer three kinds of neurofeedback - LENS, Brain-Trainer, and HEG.
Low Energy Neurofeedback System helps the brain get “unstuck.” LENS can help with a range of symptoms including anxiety, migraines, attention problems, sleep issues, and even peak performance. It is particularly effective with mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injury regardless of when the injury happened. Unlike other forms of neurofeedback, the LENS is disentrainment. Another way to say that is we are trusting the brain’s wisdom to move toward its optimal functioning rather than training it to specific patterns. This is done through mirroring back to the brain what it is doing moment to moment. It also differs from other forms of neurofeedback in its brevity - each session lasts from seconds to just a few minutes.
Hemoencephalography or HEG neurofeedback looks at how the brain is using energy. This is a way to exercise the prefrontal cortex. This part of the brain is related to what scientists call executive functions. HEG may be for you if you would like to do the following activities more effectively: focusing the attention, planning, organizing, decision making, and moderating social behavior.
Brain-trainer is a specific type of brain-wave (EEG) feedback developed as a way to train the whole brain. Unlike some types of neurofeedback, Brain-trainer is not based on a normative database. Instead, it measures your brain patterns and then trains toward the patterns found in "peak brains." It has been compared to circuit training, but for the brain. After your initial assessment, you will train 2-3 times per week for 30-45 minutes. Typically, adults will go through 4-6 circuits (20-30 sessions) in total. Brain-trainer can help with anxiety, depression, attentional control, the aging brain, trauma and more.
